♥Genevieve Jackson comes as the latest talent to emerge from the famously talented Jackson family.Born December 3,1989 she was poised to make her mark on the music scene, the budding artist attributes her Latin influence to her Colombian born mother who she names as the biggest supporter of her dreams. “I am a big fan of my Colombian roots, as well as my African American roots. I am blessed to come from such a talented family, she says.” From early on Genevieve always knew that she wanted to be a performer. When she was just four years old she performed in Las Vegas at the Jackson Family Honors event with her family. When she was eight, she traveled to London to join her uncle, Michael onstage in front of thousands of people. The experience inspired her, and she knew in her heart that she wanted to be a singer. A year later she began her vocal training with Brenda Lee Eager who has worked with the likes of Stevie Wonder, Diana Ross, and Prince. Most recently Genevieve sang background vocals for her aunt, LaToya. The resulting single, “I Don’t Play That,” was featured on the television show Armed and Famous. She has also been given the opportunity to work with her uncles on various projects throughout the years. She was interviewed in 2004 on Good Morning America about growing up in this famous family. In true Jackson form, she is somewhat shy at times, but according to Genevieve, “Once I get on that stage it’s a whole different story!” Plain and simple—she lights up the stage. Genevieve has also been very active in school activities ranging from school plays to cheerleading and track. She performed in CSUN’s production of Joe Turner’s Come and Gone. In 2004-2005 she competed in cheerleading and went all the way to the nationals. She also joined track and won for the triple jump. She truly enjoys this part of her life and likes to stay involved in competitive sports. Part of what sets her apart is her variety of influences. “Growing up, my family would always play old school music. I grew up listening to Earth, Wind, & Fire, Diana Ross, Chaka Khan, The Jackson 5, Prince, and Aretha Franklin.” One of her ultimate dreams is to collaborate with Prince. When asked where she wants to go musically Genevieve says, “I see myself doing many styles. I don’t want to just stop with pop and R&B, but want to do Rock, Hip-Hop, Punjabi, and Techno/Dance.” As she stands ready to take the next step in her musical path she brings the drive and enthusiasm of a girl who knows who she is and what she wants to accomplish. “My goal is to be the best that I can be, she says. Through my voice that God has given me, I am hoping to do a lot of great things for the world.” Her goals include helping the homeless and traveling the world to make a difference. She knows that through her music she can finally begin her journey. Genevieve currently lives with her family in Encino, and is focusing all of her energy on her music career.♥
